Ritto Fraestyrsyn
"Should pale death with treble dread, Make the ocean caves our bed;
Thou who hear'st the surges roll, Deign to save our suppliant souls."
About:

| Age: 34 |
| Sexuality: Bi |
| Relationship Status: Single |
| Main Classes: RPR, SAM, WAR |

Personality:
Ritto is a weirdo driven by impulse and outrage. He tackles constant internal conflict without real resolution, and tends to vent his frustrations through cathartic outbursts and comedy. This works surprisingly well for adventuring, but tends to be a problem in his downtime when he ends up rubbing people the wrong way. At the very least, he reliably says and does whatever first comes to his mind, and there's a certain kind of honesty in that.
Background:
Ritto was raised by a small crew of independent pirates around Vylbrand, having been adopted following a raid on a ship his blood relatives had boarded. He took on his main father-figure's name, and began a life of marauding while incredibly young. With the formation of the Eorzean alliance and their family sailing off to raid Garlean forces in their teenage years, he instead stuck to adventure.Being blessed with the Echo meant filling certain obligations, he figured. Well before the Company of Heroes and the Calamity, Ritto gathered a crew of similarly blessed adventurers, hoping to use their talents to do something most could not; to kill the primal Leviathan. This ended with the horrific deaths of his crew, himself stranded among their bodies and wreckage on a remote lighthouse island. Their waterlogged corpses served as a reminder of his failures as he spiraled through guilt and despair under the abandoned tower's light.Ritto has no idea how he left. He suspects that he never really did.

Traits:
| Names | Ritto was raised by pirates, predominantly Sea Wolf clan Roes. Fraestyrsyn translates to Son of the Free Star in the Roegadyn ancestral language (A name he still carries with pride). Ritto... has no idea what "Ritto" means. |
| Identity | Ritto is transmasc. Calling him 'lady' or 'miss' are a surefire way to earn oneself a swift fist to the jaw and a slew of nautical insults. |
| Appearance | Ritto's covered in scars from his past adventures, literally. Most of them have stories behind them that he makes efforts to keep track of and remember. He also has tattoos along his back and down an arm from a period of piracy in Othard after washing up from his failed Leviathan hunt. He wears both sets of markings openly and with pride. |
| Food | Being a pirate has perks; like access to rare, expensive, and potentially-illegal ingredients. For Ritto, this led to a surprisingly productive hobby that lends well to entertaining, especially with the variety of cultural recipes he's picked up while traveling. His favorite is crabcakes, but he also loves seafood in general. |
| Aether | Ritto can't manipulate Aether. He used to, but hasn't been able in recent memory. To someone who can see aether directly, his corporeal aetheric presence is weirdly thin: it's surprising that he even has a physical body. |
| Id | Ritto now relies on a contract made with a Voidsent avatar, Id, in place of his own aether to make up for lost strength. His memory of how that contract was formed in the first place is hazy at best, but he likes to imagine that he won Id's loyalty over some sort of game he cheated at. Strangely, the two get along incredibly well: in part because he lacks aether and is basically inedible. Id is easily swayed with pizza and junk foods, to Ritto's benefit and occasional frustration. |

Hi! I'm Loafy. Ritto is my main FFXIV character, and this is where I'm dumping all of my headcanon-y stuff. I'm new to the whole in-game RP thing, so this is mostly me burning the same energy as I use for TTRPG character writing.I'm also kinda just following a lot of the formatting stuff for this I've seen other people use.Why make this?
I get attached to character ideas, especially if I sink a lot of time playing them in any capacity. Despite making a silly Miqo with a silly name at first (B'ritto Frito at first), I went a little overboard fleshing them out over time. Even if he's still basically just a pirate with survivor's guilt and a penchant for Faustian bargains. So, here's where I'm dumping that info to get it out of my head. So, what now?
If you wanna add me in game or anything, I'm on Brynhildr in the Crystal datacenter as, you guessed it: Ritto Fraestyrsyn. A grey Keeper, usually in extremely casual or edgy glamours.I'm also not super experienced with in-game RP, so please keep that in mind.(Also, I draw stuff a lot, some of which is Ritto. Most of it is also TTRPG character stuff for games like Pathfinder, so if that's something you're interested in, check out my Twitter!)
Trivia:
Character trivia In no particular order:- No matter where he is, the air around Ritto somehow carries the smell of sea spray and ashes, if only for a few moments.- Like many Miqo'te, Ritto has an incredibly expressive and somewhat goofy face that's a bit hard to take seriously at times. Unfortunately, not being taken seriously when he wants to be sure does piss him off. A lot.- Ritto speaks in typical Lominsan dialect, that gets less intelligible the more expressive he is at any given point in time.- Ritto hates his stomach being touched, as all cats do.- Ritto's truest passion, aside from fighting and food, is fishing. He's scoured nearly every corner of this star for wavekin and have been left wanting even still.- Ritto's favorite color is pink. It's mostly obvious with his pajamas and living spaces, not as much with his usual red-and-black fashion choices.- Ritto's hair picked up unnatural red highlights after his Voidsent contract. They don't really do anything, but like, it's not dye.
